Southeast Cancer Network
In 1995, several Alabama oncologists came together to examine how a regional network of cancer care centers could best bridge the gap between urban and rural markets.
From this summit emerged the Southeast Cancer Network. The network was incorporated in March 1996 with the vision of centralizing—while still localizing—the best cancer care physicians and clinics in Alabama and the Southeast. Because of its centralized design, the network’s local treatment facilities are able to offer the most

modern, multidisciplinary cancer treatment techniques, thereby ensuring a continuity of care and service that is both convenient and cost-effective to the patient.
Within Southeast Cancer Network, each autonomous treatment center has access to all of the partnerships formed by the network’s central office, a few of which are home health clinics, hospice agencies, and other healthcare providers.
It is this state-of-the-art technology, coupled with experienced managerial leadership, geographic access, and high quality patient care, that will drive the network forward. This development will likely occur in the areas of clinical pathways, patient outcome studies, oncology carve-outs for managed care, and management service organization provisions for both medical and radiation oncology programs.
